While the WNBA’s 2014 first overall draft pick, Chiney Ogwumike, won Rookie of the Month for May, she wasn’t the only rookie to be recognized.
San Antonio Stars rookie Kayla McBride recently made it to WNBA.com’s Rookie Watch as she was highlighted alongside Ogwumike, Atlanta’s Shoni Schimmel and Indiana’s Natasha Howard.
WNBA.com had the following to say about McBride:
Kayla McBride was doing perfectly well for her rookie year, averaging about 10 points per game, but then she broke out with a 30-point game to beat her friend and former teammate Skylar Diggins and the Tulsa Shock. McBride is averaging 11.7 points per game.
McBride is currently ranked third amongst rookies in scoring, fifth in steals and tenth in rebounding.
After a double overtime loss against the Mercury on Saturday, McBride and the Stars will be back home on Friday against the Seattle Storm and Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks.
