With the 2014 WNBA Draft set for tonight, there are many big names expected to be called. Who will the San Antonio Stars pick at No. 3? Stars Head Coach and General Manager, Dan Hughes and his staff have been in this situation before so there is confidence among fans heading into tonight’s pick. Below are the player profiles of the possible players the Stars could use with their third overall pick.

Stefanie DolsonUniversity of Connecticut

Dolson is a 6-5 center for the National Champion UCONN Huskies. She averaged 11.6 points per game and pulled down over 1,001 rebounds in her college career. She was named the American Athletic Conference’s defensive player of the year and led the Huskies to four Final Four appearances.

Natasha Howard – Florida State University

Howard is a 6-3 forward and spent four years with Florida State. She was named to the All ACC First Team and ACC All-Second Defensive Team. During her college career she averaged 14.0 points per game while shooting .515 percent from the field. In her junior year she was named to the All ACC First Team.

Alyssa Thomas – University of Maryland

Thomas is forward from Maryland who averaged 17.4 points per game in her career and over 1,000 rebounds. She is a three-time ACC Player of the Year and All-ACC First Team selection. She also led Maryland to a Final Four appearance in 2014.

Kayla McBride – Notre Dame

McBride is a 5-11 guard who led the Fighting Irish to the National Championship game this year. In her college career she led the Notre Dame to four final fours and three title games, while averaging 14.1 points per game. She was named a First-Team All American, a Naismith Trophy finalist and was a finalist for the Wade Trophy. She was also named the ACC player of the Year.

It is safe to say that whoever Coach Hughes and the Stars draft this year, the future looks bright for the Stars.
