Highlights:
The San Antonio Rampage struggled to find their offense, falling 5-1 and 6-0 to the Grand Rapids Griffins in two games over the weekend. The losses saw the Silver and Black continue their winless streak, reaching seven games.
In Friday’s game, Grand Rapids went up 3-0 in the opening 20 minutes with goals from Martin Frk, Mitch Callahan, and Matthew Ford. San Antonio scored their lone goal off a Troy Bourke finish from Garry Nunn at the 11:21 mark of the second period. Grand Rapids took their three-goal lead back when Dominic Turgeon buried a shot into the open net, making it 4-1 after 40 minutes.
Eric Tangradi sealed the 5-1 win for Grand Rapids with a tally in the final period.
Saturday saw more scoring from Grand Rapids, blanking the Rampage on the night. The Griffins opened the scoring with a goal from Matt Lorito at the 15:51 mark of the 1st period. Tyler Bertuzzi, Lorito, and Ben Street made It 4-0 after 40 minutes. Grand Rapids added three goals in the final period from Eric Tangradi and Caito sealed the 6-0 win.
The two losses see the Rampage stay winless on their Rodeo Road Trip with a 0-6-0-1 through seven games.
The Rampage are now 21-27-4-1 on the season and will close out their Rodeo Trip next week in Canada against the Manitoba Moose.
