SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage got closer in the playoff race as they split a pair of games with their in-state rivals, the Texas Stars (34-23-7-3), in a home-and-home series over the weekend.
The results from the weekend series saw San Antonio beat Texas eight times in a single season for the first time and gives them the second tiebreaker should both teams end with the same record at the conclusion of the season.

Friday, March 23 – RAMPAGE 1, Texas Stars 2:
San Antonio held a one-goal lead going into the third period after Zach Sanford’s goal with 29 seconds remaining in the second. However, Texas would rally back in the final stanza with two goals. Denis Gurianov and Sheldon Dries found the back of the net, taking both points for the Stars in the first meeting of the weekend.
Saturday, March 24: RAMPAGE 2, Texas Stars 1:
The very next night saw San Antonio race out to a two-goal lead in front of over 10,000 fans on Pucks and Paws Night. Brendan Ranford found Andrew Agozzino, who put home the puck in the back of the net for the first San Antonio goal.
San Antonio went up two when Jesse Graham scored when he fired home the puck from the point past Landon Bow. The Stars would get one back with a goal from Brent Regner but it would be too late. The Rampage held on for the win and weekend split.
The Rampage are now (32-26-10-0) on the season and will return to the ice next Friday when they welcome the Stockton Heat (30-23-2-4) for a two-game series beginning Friday at the AT&T Center with the puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.
