The San Antonio Rampage closed the 2017-18 season by splitting their two games with the Texas Stars on Friday and Saturday night.
The Saturday night win gives San Antonio the most successful season against their in-state rivals, winning nine games in total. Here is a recap of the weekend.
RAMPAGE 2, Texas Stars 4
The Silver and Black dropped their final home game of the season to their in-state rivals. A.J Greer got the Rampage on the board when he fired the puck off the skates of Texas goaltender Mike McKenna for his first power-play goal of the season.
Andrew O’Brien got Texas on the board when Andrew O’Brien forced a turnover and beat Rampage netminder Adam Warner. Denis Gurianov gave the Stars the lead just over a minute later to make it 2-1 in favor of the visiting team.
The Stars got another goal to extend their lead with Colin Markison’s backdoor finish. Felix Girard scored just over a minute later to make it 3-2 but it would be Texas that got the final goal of the night from Gurianov, finalizing the score at 4-2.
RAMPAGE 4, Texas Stars 3 (SO)
The Rampage closed the season on Saturday night with a 4-3 shootout win over Texas. San Antonio got on the scoreboard when Taylor Richart beat netminder Landon Bow in the opening frame. Sheldon Dries tied the score later on in the period but Reid Petryk gave the Silver and Black the lead right back to make it 2-1.
Texas answered back with Tony Calerone’s goal to tie the game up again. Just over a minute later, Zach Sanford gave San Antonio the lead back at 3-2. The third period was scoreless until a minute remaining when Texas got the equalizer from Brian Flynn to force overtime.
The game would head to a shootout where Kostin netted the game-winner and Warner stopped all five shots he faced.

The San Antonio Rampage close their affiliation with the Colorado Avalanche, ending 95-108-23-2 over their three-year span.
The Rampage finished the 2017-18 season with a record of 35-31-10.
