Junior linebacker Josiah Tauaefa has been named to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award watch list for his second consecutive season according to a release from the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced Thursday.
It’s not Tauaefa’s first honor of the season however, as he was also named 2018 preseason first-team All-Conference USA by Athlon Sports.
The 2018 watch list is made up of 50 players from 34 different FBS schools. Five finalists will be announced December 5, with the winner announced Dec. 14. The presentation of the award will be held during the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week Celebration Dinner, and they will be recognized at halftime of the Polynesian Bowl at Aloha Stadium.
The Lake Dallas graduate made an impact right away in his freshman season, setting the single season record for tackles on his way to picking up several other honors.
