The UTSA RoadRunners were outlasted by the Army Black Knights 26-16 as earlier reported by Jonas Clark of Project Spurs Network. Army handed UTSA their first loss in the Alamodome this season and while the Black Knights may have lead from the opening touchdown, the game was much closer than the score suggests. UTSA Junior Lowell Narcisse made his 1st start of the 2020 season. After playing well in the RoadRunners narrow loss to BYU last week, Coach Traylor gave Narcisse the nod. Narcisses’ pocket presence was on display as he waited until the his receivers have fully developed their routs before he finally delivered passes right over the defense.
Trailing 0-7 early in the second quarter, UTSA would call on Senior Hunter Duplessis for a career long 50-yard field goal attempt. Duplessis (reliable as ever) would nail the long distance kick to put UTSA on the scoreboard.
Army would retaliate with a six minute, 13 play, 74-yard scoring drive. All 13 plays would be rush attempts out of Armys’ infamous triple option offense. After big yardage gains from QB Tyhier Tyler, the Black Knights would march down to the UTSA goal line.
Army kicker Landon Salyers would convert on the kick to put the Black Knights ahead 14-3 with 5:06 left in the second quarter. UTSA would respond with their own 14 play, 87 yard drive capped off with a 1-yard touchdown from QB Lowell Narcisse to receiver Zakhari Franklin with just 11 seconds remaining in the 1st half.

A 37-yard rush from Tyhier Tyler would put the Black Knights ahead 21-10 with 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The RoadRunners now trailed 21-16. With just 1 score seperating the teams, the Army offense would shift into a higher gear.
The Black Knights ONLY pass of the game was a 53-yard toss from Cade Ballard to receiver Camden Harrison over the top of the RoadRunner defense. It clearly caught the UTSA defense off guard after 3 quarters of nothing but rush attempts. The completion positioned Army for a third touchdown rush, this time from QB Cade Ballard. Army now held a commanding 28-16 lead that they would hold for the remainder of the game.
UTSA would drive into scoring range, however a costly turnover on downs would all but seal the RoadRunners fate. The UTSA defense would play inspired as they did all they could to keep the RoadRunners in the game. Sophomore safety Kelechi Nwachuku would lead the team with 16 tackles.
While the Runners were able to overcome, a devastating injury to their starting QB; the relentless rushing attack of the Army Black Knights resulted in the UTSAs’ 3rd loss of the season. Army would total 305 yard on the ground as they escaped “Military town USA” with a win over our hometown team. The RoadRunners now stand 3-3 while (1-1) in conference USA play. UTSA will host conference rival Louisiana Tech in the Alamodome this Saturday evening!
