SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women’s basketball team earned their first win of the season by dominating the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 76-58 at the McDermott Center on Monday night.
UIW took control of the game in the first quarter as they used a 15-0 run to take a 18-7 lead into the second period. The Cardinals freshman and sophomore players score all the points in the run.
Freshman guard Kara Speer finished with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Meanwhile sophomore guard Imani Robinson led UIW with 23 points.
Up next: Incarnate Word is now 1-3 on the season and will return to the court on Friday when they open a two-game trip beginning in Utah at 4 p.m.
