Ahead of their return home this weekend, the UIW Cardinals have been ranked No. 25 in the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced the American Football Coaches Association on Monday.

Making the Top 25 poll marks the third time in program history the Cardinals have been ranked. UIW was ranked No. 24 in the FCS STATS Media Poll in November 2018 and No. 24 in both the STATS FCS Media Poll and the AFCA Coaches Poll also in November 2018.

The ranking comes following UIW’s third consecutive win and second straight victory over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 25 Houston Baptist and No. 23/25 Southeastern Louisana.

The Cardinals will open a three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon against the Lamar Cardinal (4-3, 2-2) at Benson Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. Central Time.
