STILLWATER – The Incarnate Word Cardinals women’s basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with an 86-35 loss to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Friday afternoon.
UIW shot 29 percent for the game and committed 30 turnovers in the game, which turned into 35 points for the Cowgirls.
Oklahoma State (1-0) led from the opening tip as they raced out to a 30-9 lead going into the second quarter. The Cowgirls continued the scoring onslaught as they opened the second 10 minutes with six straight points, in route to a 52-16 halftime lead.
The Cardinals were led by freshman guard Imani Robinson’s 12 points, the lone player in double figures for UIW. The other freshman guard Liz Holter from Arizona added seven for UIW, who open the season with two straight road games.
Up next: The UIW Cardinals are now 0-1 on the season and will return to the court on Saturday afternoon when they take on UT-Arlington at 2:30 p.m.
