UIW earns first postseason berth in franchise history

Incarnate Word football is having its best season in program history and Sunday afternoon saw yet another milestone for the Cardinals.

UIW Football clinched its first berth in the NCAA Division I Football Championship, the selection committee announced on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals will face off against Montana State in Bozeman, Mont. on Saturday at 2 p.m.

“I appreciate everybody coming out and supporting us,” UIW Head Coach Eric Morris said. “For these kids to be rewarded like this is a big deal for us and for all of San Antonio. I was fired up, emotional. It was pure joy when we found out. Our coaches are in the film room now though, getting ready for Montana State.”

UIW is coming off a 6-4 season, their best in program history that saw them earn a share of the Southland Conference Championship.
