Trinity snaps skid with win over Birmingham-Southern

HIGHLIGHTS:

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 24-17 victory over the Birmingham-Southern (AL) College Panthers at Alamo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The game took place at Alamo Stadium due to poor field conditions at Trinity. The Panthers got on the scoreboard early on following a fumble by the Tigers. The visitors scored on a two-yard score to take a 7-0 lead.

Trinity struggled offensively early on but finally broke through with a 38-yard field goal from Jonathan Reyes. The Tigers scored their first touchdown of the game when quarterback Wyatt Messex found Tommy Lavine for the go-ahead touchdown to complete the 85-yard drive.

The second half saw the Tigers take full control as they added a touchdown from running back Evan McDowell to go up 24-14 early in the third quarter. The Panthers would add a field goal to finalize the scoring at 24-17.

The win is the first for Trinity in conference play this season.

UP NEXT:

The Trinity Tigers are now 2-2 (1-2, SAA) on the season and will return to the field next Saturday to continue conference play against Rhodes (TN) College at 1 pm CT.
