Trinity downs Sewanee in conference action

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity Tigers defeated Sewanee: The University of the South 28-14 at Alamo Stadium on Saturday afternoon to rebound from a loss last weekend.

Trinity raced out to a 21-0 late and would score touchdowns in all four quarters. The Tigers opened the scoring with a touchdown pass from Wyatt Messex to Tommy Lavine to cap off a 54-yard drive.

The very next play saw the Tigers’ Jordan Williams intercept the ball, setting up another Messex and Lavine connection for a touchdown and 14-0 lead for Trinity.

Trinity added two more scores after halftime as Messex to Lavine connected again and backup quarterback Blake Johnson threw a touchdown pass to Chris Stewart, making it a 28-7 game.

The Trinity Tigers are now 4-3 (3-2, SAA) on the season and will return to the field next Saturday when they travel to face Hendrick University at noon.
