The San Antonio Stars are back in action tonight facing the Chicago Sky at the AT&T Center. The Stars will be looking for their first win, while the Sky will look to rebound after some recent losses. This is a tough game for the Stars because they will face the reigning MVP in Elena Delle Donne.
Here are three things to watch:
- Who will be the scoring option besides Kayla McBride? Who will step up?
The Stars need scoring power and right now, they lack the star power other than Kayla McBride. McBride is currently averaging 22 points per game through three games, and she needs help. The problem is, there has been no consistent second option scorer for the Stars. So who will step up? Dearica Hamby? Moriah Jefferson? And, who will be the Stars spark off the bench as they do not have anyone capable of it just yet in this early part of the season.
- Who will try to stop Elena Delle Donne? How will they defend her all night long?
Elena Delle Donne has had a rough night a couple of days vs LA and I expect her to have a come back performance. As of right now, she should have no problem doing just that. How will the Stars try to defend her? Man to man defense? Double or triple teams? If the Stars can figure out a way to contain Elena Delle Donne, they have a good shot of being competitive and stealing a win versus Chicago.
- Can the Stars shock the world?
Okay, maybe the wording was too strong. But, can they build off what they did vs Dallas last week? They were a couple of possessions away from getting their first win of the season. Can they play competitively vs other teams or are they just simply rebuilding for the future? If the Stars can get contributions from others, defend EDD well, and play down the stretch, they will get that first win of the season.
The Stars and Sky will tip things off at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
