Texas State routs UTA in regular season finale

SAN MARCOS – The Texas State Lady Bobcats closed out the regular season with a 75-58 rout of UTA at Strahan Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

The victory saw Texas State get some revenge on UTA after to them earlier in the season. Taeler Deer scored a game-high 28 points in the win as she shot 52 percent from the floor.

Toshua Leavitt added 20 points in the win for the Bobcats.


“We were ready to play this game right after the loss in Arlington,” Texas State Head Coach Zenarae Antoine said. “There are many layers of this game that I am very excited about. I think we executed the game plan very well. This game allowed our fans to see that this team is a true contender. Tonight was really about the team doing a great job of executing.”

Texas State seized control with a 17-9 third quarter and never looked back.

The Bobcats end the season with a 21-8 overall record, the 21 wins match the most in Division I era in program history. The victory also saw Texas State secure a first-round bye in the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Texas State will now head to New Orleans for the Sun Belt Championship tournament. The Bobcats will play the winner of the No. 7/No. 10 seed game on March 6.
