SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Stars have waived veteran center Erika De Souza per her request, the team announced on Sunday morning.
De Souza suffered a bone bruise in her lower right leg in practice on August 8. According to the team, she made the request so she can return home to Brazil to complete her physical therapy.
The 35-year-old averaged 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 27 games with San Antonio during the 2017 season.
The Stars are currently 7-21 on the season and will return to the court on Friday night against the Seattle Storm at KeyArena with tipoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
