The San Antonio Stars kicked off the preseason with a 74-67 win over the Atlanta Dream in front of 4,100 fans inside Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon.

San Antonio was led by Dearica Hamby’s 18 points and seven rebounds. Sydney Colson added 17 points and Jayne Appel-Marinelli chipped in nine for the Stars.

Number two overall pick Moriah Jefferson had six points and dished out six assists in her pro debut.

The Stars were without Kayla McBride and Kayla Alexander, who are both overseas.

Atlanta was led by Elizabeth Williams’ nine points. It was a balanced attack for the Dream, who had no players in double figures.

The Stars are now 1-0 in preseason play and will return to the court tomorrow night when they face the home town Connecticut Sun at 6 p.m.
