Stars face the league leading Phoenix Mercury at home

The San Antonio Stars are back in action tonight as they host the league leading Phoenix Mercury at home. The Stars (13-16) and the Mercury (24-4) come into this game on different paths. The Stars have lost four of their last five, and the Mercury won 16 games in a row at one point and have won 13 straight at home.

Both teams need to win tonight as the Stars are looking to make the playoffs and the Mercury are looking to solidify themselves as the #1 team in the league for playoff positioning. This is the fourth and final time these two teams will meet in the regular season. The Mercury currently lead the season series 2-1.

3 Things to Watch for

1. Defense – The Stars need all hands on deck for defense. The Mercury are a talented team and can score from any position, so the Stars have to be ready for the challenge.

2. Score – The Stars can score, but they will need to keep pace with the Mercury because if they don’t score and have issues offensively like they have the past couple of games, they won’t win.

3. X Factor – Some one from the Stars needs to step up and help the starting 5. The Stars need all the help they can get tonight because if they want to win, it will have to be a total team effort.

The Stars have 3 games in 4 days starting tonight. It will determine whether or not the Stars make the playoffs. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest in San Antonio and Fox Sports Arizona in Phoenix. Tip off is set for 7 pm local time at the AT&T Center.
