San Antonio Stars head coach Dan Hughes has said he believes his team can compete with the Minnesota Lynx to try and upset them. Tonight he gets to see what the silver and black are made of when they face the Lynx in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Stars are the number three seed in the Western Conference and head into the playoffs on a three-game winning streak. They finished the season with a 16-18 record and were 8-9 both at home and on the road.
Jia Perkins is the leading scorer for San Antonio against the Lynx with 14.0 points per game and rookie Kayla McBride averages 11.2 ppg.
Minnesota comes in as the number two seed with a 25-9 record and 15-2 record at home and were 10-7 on the road. WNBA MVP Maya Moore averages 23.9 points per game. The Stars will need to keep the Lynx role players at bay if they want to try and win the opening game.
San Antonio has lost 12 straight in Minnesota, with their only win coming back in July of 2010.
The Stars and Lynx will tip off at 8pm inside the Target Center. Game can be seen on ESPN 2 and be sure to check back later for Stephen Anderson’s post-game report.
