Stars close out four-game trip in Indiana

The San Antonio Stars (9-9) close out their four-game in seven days road trip on Saturday afternoon. They are looking to close out their season-long trip with a win, but that may not be easy against an Indiana team getting their All-Star player back.

The Fever (8-9) have been without the services of Tamika Catchings due to a sore back. She will be making her season debut on Saturday when Indiana hosts San Antonio.

Indiana had lost five of six games, including three straight home losses, before winning 77-70 in Atlanta on Tuesday. They would earn a 80-77 victory at Washington the very next night.

“I thought we really showed a lot of heart,” Fever head coach Lin Dunn said. “We’re on a back-to-back, flew in this morning, had a tough game last night in Atlanta. I thought we matched their energy, their quickness. They wanted to push the ball and so did we.”

The Fever have won five of their last six games against the Stars and swept last year’s two meetings by a combined 32 points. Catchings scored 19 in both games while Shavonte Zellous averaged 19.5 points on 55.6 percent shooting.

San Antonio (9-9) had won five straight games on the road before Thursday’s 91-84 loss at Minnesota. The Stars led 35-30 with four minutes remaining in the first half before the Lynx went on a 20-1 run.

“We hung, but we just couldn’t quite get over the top,” Stars head coach Dan Hughes said.

San Antonio, the league’s best 3-point shooting team at 38.2 percent will be tested against the Indiana defense.

The Stars and Fever will tip-off at 4 p.m. inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Be sure to check back for Stephen Anderson’s game recap following the game.
