The defense for the San Antonio Rampage just improved dramatically. Yesterday, the Florida Panthers traded Joey Crabb in exchange for defenseman Steven Kampfer and forward Andrew Yogan. Now the silver and black will be getting more help on that end of the ice with their most recent addition.
Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced on Thursday defenseman Shane O’Brien cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Rampage.
O’Brien has 528 total games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He suited up for the Anaheim Ducks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks, Nashville Predators, Colorado Avalanche and most recently the Calgary Flames.
The 31-year-old has tallied 13 goals with 78 assists and 911 penalty minutes in his eight year career in the NHL.
The Rampage will return to the ice on Friday when they open the 2014-15 season against the Iowa Wild at the AT&T Center at 7:30 p.m.
