The San Antonio Scorpions playoff hopes took a major hit with a 0-1 loss to the Ottawa Fury on Sunday afternoon inside TD Place.

After 68 minutes of scoreless soccer, the home squad finally got on the board in the second half. Midfielder Mauro Eustaquio beat the San Antonio keeper with a shot towards the net that proved to be the game-winner.

San Antonio sub Eric Hassli was given a red card for tackling an Ottawa defender and he will be suspended for the team’s next match.

The loss puts the Scorpions playoff hopes in doubt as they will need to win out and get help in order to clinch a postseason berth.

The Scorpions are now 7-8-12 on the season and will continue their road trip when they face Fort Lauderdale for a weekday match later in the week.
