The San Antonio Scorpions final home match of the 2015 season against the New York Cosmos has been postponed, the team announced on Friday afternoon.
The Scorpions, Cosmos and North American Soccer League have all agreed to move the match to Sunday at 1 p.m. with the game still being played at Toyota Field.
“Our number one concern is for the safety and comfort of our fans,” said Scorpions president & general manager Howard Cornfield. “Given the severity of the forecast – and particularly the likelihood of flooding – we felt this was the most prudent action to take. I’d like to personally thank Erik Stover and the New York Cosmos as well as NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson and the league office for their shared concern for the safety of our fans and the players to make this last minute change to the schedule.”
This is the first time in team history that a match has been postponed.
