The San Antonio Scorpions came into Saturday’s matching knowing the New York Cosmos had the leagues best record. And that came with the best defense, which lived up to its name.

San Antonio was shutout and fell 0-3 to the Cosmos, their first loss to New York since 2013.

New York got on the scoreboard when Raúl González Blanco sent a shot towards the San Antonio net, out of the reach of ‘keeper Daryl Sattler in the 18th minute to give the Cosmos the lead.

Rovérsio Rodrigues de Barros put the game away in the second half with a goal in the 81st minute and five minutes later Leonardo Fernandes converted to make it an 0-3 final score.

The Scorpions are now 2-1-4 (7 points) on the season and will return to the pitch on Wednesday night to welcome the Austin Aztex to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
