Scorpions begin title defense again Rowdies

The San Antonio Scorpions will open the 2015 Spring Season and begin their title defense tonight when they welcome the Tampa Bay Rowdies to Toyota Field.

Before the game, it will be time to celebrate what the red and black accomplished in 2014 – winning their first NASL championship in team history. Players will get their rings in a special ceremony, a a championship flag will be raised and banners will be unveiled.

San Antonio ended preseason play with a record of 2-0-1. The Scorpions defeated Dallas FC 2-1 and the Costa Rican U-23 National Team 4-2. Their lone loss came to the Austin Aztex of the USL by a final score of 4-1.


Tampa Bay finished the preseason with a 7-2-2 record. The Rowdies earned a 2-0 win over Jacksonville and a 2-1 win over Edmonton FC.

The Rowdies are 5-0-6 all-time against San Antonio, including a 3-0-3 at Toyota Field. However, the Scorpions defeated Tampa Bay 7-0 at home and 2-0 on the road in the Fall Season.
