San Antonio FC to host Liga MX Club in international friendly

San Antonio FC will host Liga MX club Santos Laguna in an exhibition friendly at Toyota Field on July 8, the team announced on Tuesday.

The match will be the first ever international friendly for SAFC in franchise history.

“We are delighted to bring Santos Laguna to the Alamo City this summer and challenge ourselves against one of the top teams in Liga MX,” said SAFC Managing Director Tim Holt. “The inclusion of this marquee match as part of our season ticket package allows us to reward our most committed fans for their continued support of San Antonio FC, and will ensure yet another fantastic atmosphere at Toyota Field.”

Liga MX club Santos Laguna has won five first division titles, most recently winning the 2015 Clausura. The club also participated in the Champions League twice in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

San Antonio FC will return to action on Wedensday when they play in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup. The club will return to USL action this Saturday when they take on Phoenix Rising FC.
