San Antonio FC has signed midfielder Mikey Lopez for the 2018 USL season, the club announced on Friday.

Lopez joins SAFC after spending the 2017 campaign with New York City FC. He appeared in 27 matches, posting four shots and one assist. During his time with NYCFC, he started five matches and played a total of 1,281 minutes.

“We are pleased to have Mikey join San Antonio FC for the 2018 season,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell through a team press release. “He has a lot of previous experience in MLS, most recently with New York City FC, as well as experience with the youth national team. We expect him to come in and compete from day one, while helping us grow in 2018.”

Prior to his time with New York, Lopez also played with Orlando City SC and OKC Energy FC from 2014-15, scoring two goals with OKC during the 2014 campaign.

Lopez is the second newcomer to SAFC after Jose Escalante joined the club on loan for the 2018 season.

San Antonio FC will open their third season in the Alamo City on Saturday March 17 in Sacramento before returning to Toyota Field to host Saint Louis FC on March 24 at 7:30 p.m. for the clubs home opener.
