San Antonio FC has signed midfielder Juan Nino for the upcoming 2017 season, the team announced on Thursday.
The 26-year-old impressed coaches during training camp and spent 2016 with Barranquilla in Columbia, making 10 appearances and posting 570 minutes.
“Juan came into preseason camp and impressed the coaching staff,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell via press release. “He brings a positive attitude every day and shows good character. He played well in the preseason game and showed good quality on the ball. We’re really excited to have him on the team.”
The signing of Nino brings the San Antonio roster to 22 players.
San Antonio FC will kick off its second season in the United Soccer League on March 26 against RGV FC Toros on the road before returning home to face the LA Galaxy II at Toyota Field on April 1.
