San Antonio has signed forward Akwafei Ajeakwa for the upcoming 2017 USL season, the team announced on Tuesday morning.
“We are pleased AJ [Ajeakwa] has come to join us in San Antonio in 2017,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He brings a lot of enthusiasm and commitment to the game and will be an attacking option for us this coming year.”
Ajeakwa spent the 2016 season with the OC Blues FC. Prior to that, he spent time playing overseas and attended Chico State University from 2012-14 where he earned All-CCAA Second Team honors.
“I’m happy that I am joining a club where the culture of football is well respected, the organization is one of sports’ best and the community support is amazing,” said Ajeakwa. “I want to help bring success to San Antonio and build on my development as a player. I’m here to work hard, dedicate myself to the team and community, and to win.”
San Antonio FC is expected to open its second season in the USL in March 2017.
