San Antonio FC has signed defender Chris Christian for the 2018 USL season, the club announced on Thursday.

Christian comes to San Antonio after spending the past two years with Sacramento Republic FC. He led the club with 83 clearances in the regular season and 11 in two playoff matches.

“We are excited to add Chris to our roster,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell through a team press release. “He is an experienced defender at this level and he played over 60 games with Sacramento under Paul Buckle the last two seasons. We are happy to have Chris come in and hit the ground running as we prepare for the start of the season.”

Christian joins Ethan Bryant, Darnell King, Mikey Lopez, and Jose Escalante as newcomers to SAFC in 2018.

San Antonio FC will open their third season in the Alamo City on Saturday, March 17 in Sacramento before returning to Toyota Field to host Saint Louis FC on March 24 at 7:30 p.m. for the clubs home opener
