San Antonio FC has re-signed defender Stephen McCarthy for the 2018 USL season, the team announced on Thursday.
During the 2017 campaign with SAFC, McCarthy posted 111 clearances, 14 blocks and 47 aerial duels won. The 29-year-old also had one goal and six total shots along four shots on target.
“We’re really excited to have Stephen return in 2018,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell through a team press release. “Last year was a big year for him, he became an integral part of the team and his dedication and professionalism were evident every day. He’s earned the opportunity to help lead this team this season.”
McCarthy joins Maxi Rodriguez, Connor Presley, Cyprian Hedrick, Greg Cochrane, goalkeepers Deigo Restrepo and Matt Cardone, Cesar Elizondo, and Ever Guzman in returning to SAFC for the 2018 season.
