San Antonio FC re-signs Rafa Castillo for 2018 USL season


San Antonio FC has re-signed midfielder Rafa Castillo for the 2018 USL season, the club announced on Tuesday.

Castillo returns to SAFC after spending the last two seasons with the club. He appeared in 17 matches, scoring four goals on the season.

“We are pleased to have Rafa re-join us for the 2018 campaign,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said via a team press release. “His professionalism and appetite for the game day-to-day inspire the players around him, and he will continue to make this team better with his contributions on and off the field.”

The fan favorite returned to action in the Western Conference Semifinal against the OKC Energy FC. He recorded a shot on goal and one shot. He ranked fourth on the team in goals and tallied 1,343 USL minutes for SAFC.

Castillo joins Ryan Roushandel, Mike Seth, Stephen McCarthy, Maxi Rodriguez, Connor Presley, Cyprian Hedrick, Greg Cochrane, goalkeepers Deigo Restrepo and Matt Cardone, Cesar Elizondo, and Ever Guzman in returning to SAFC in 2018.
