San Antonio FC has re-signed forward Cesar Elizondo for the 2018 USL season, the club announced on Thursday afternoon.
Elizondo finished the 2017 season with four goals and three assists in 21 regular season matches for SAFC. His four goals were third-most on the club, which helped them land their first playoff appearance in franchise history.
“We are pleased to have Cesar return,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell through a team press release. “His energy and commitment to the team are evident every time he takes the field. We look forward to his contributions in 2018.”
The Costa Rica native added another two goals in San Antonio’s playoff run in their two matches. Overall in two seasons with SAFC, Elizondo has scored eight goals and posted five assists in 32 matches.
“The 2018 season will be an exciting challenge,” said Elizondo via a team press release. “We showed ourselves and San Antonio what we’re capable of doing last season, and I’m looking forward to building on it with SAFC in the city I love.”
Elizondo is the second player to return to the club for the 2018 season after goalkeeper Diego Restrepo re-signed with SAFC earlier in the week.
