San Antonio FC opens preseason play with win over UIW


San Antonio FC defeated the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals 2-1 in a closed-door preseason friendly at Toyota Field on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, the Cardinals got on the scoreboard after a shot got past goalkeeper Lee Johnston to make it 0-1. SAFC got on the scoreboard tied the match when defender Ryan Roushandel put home the equalizer off a feed by Devin Vega. Minutes later, Vega would score the game-winner to make it 2-1 in favor of San Antonio.

Up next: San Antonio FC is 1-0 in preseason play and will return to the pitch next Saturday when they face St. Edward’s University at Toyota Field at 1 p.m.
