Toyota Field – San Antonio FC Coach Darren Powell knew it would not be easy for his club to beat the same team two weeks in a row, but with points at a premium, anything helps. After Saturday’s performance, he has to be pleased.

SAFC fought to a 0-0 draw with the Swope Park Rangers in at Toyota Field, keeping their undefeated record intact and earning an important point in the process.

“It’s tough when you play the same team twice in a week, and to get four points in a two-game series, we certainly would have taken that,” Powell said following the match.

Goalkeeper Diego Restrepo earned his sixth straight clean sheet in his seventh straight start in place of Matt Cardone.

“We have built that character of fighting and bringing those results out, and that’s a great mentality we have,” Restrepo said. “It doesn’t come easy, it takes a lot of hard work from everyone from the top all the way to the bottom, but it’s nice to be on a team with that character to fight and have that pride of not giving up goals.”

SAFC came close to giving up a goal when Swope put the ball on the goal, but defender Stephen McCarthy cleared the ball out of danger.

Up next: San Antonio FC is now 9-0-3 (31 points) on the season and will return to the pitch next Saturday when they travel to Oklahoma City to face the OKC Energy FC at 7:30 p.m.
