San Antonio FC had their playoff hopes take a hit with a 0-2 loss to Real Monarchs SLC inside Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday night.
During a scoreless and uneventful first half, SAFC goalkeeper Matt Cardone came up big with a save on a SLC penalty kick chance.
The second half saw Real Monarchs open the scoring in the 74th minute when Charlie Adams collected the ball and bury it into the open net. The home club added another goal just eight minutes later off the foot of Pedro Baez.
The result was disastrous to San Antonio’s playoff hopes. It sees the club fall in the standings and will need to win both of their final games to have a chance at the postseason.
Up next: San Antonio FC is now 9-11-8 (35 points) on the season and will return to the pitch on Saturday when they welcome Tulsa Roughnecks FC to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
