With the end of the season fast approaching, San Antonio Football Club stands just one win shy of a playoff berth.
In their inaugural season, SAFC has earned a record of 10-10-8 and they currently have 37 points. At this point, they sit just ahead Orange County Blues FC who have 36 points.
Per USL playoff regulations, the top eight seeds from both the Eastern and Western conferences at the end of the regular season advance to the playoffs. In ninth place with just two matches left in the regular season, SAFC still has a chance to make the playoffs in their first year as a team.
Despite struggles, a win against Rio Grande Valley FC would put SAFC in the postseason.
Regardless of whether or not they do make the playoffs, SAFC’s first season has definitely been one for the books. Managing to maintain a chance of making the playoffs is something to celebrate all on its own.
From ticket sales, to record crowds at Toyota Field. Season one for San Antonio FC has been a success, regardless of tonight’s outcome.
