SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio FC and the Austin Bold FC played to a scoreless draw at Toyota Field on Saturday night with both teams working to solidify their playoff positioning.

The result for San Antonio sees them needing a point to clinch home-field advantage in the first round of the USL Championship Playoffs. SAFC plays Colorado Springs Switchbacks in their season finale next weekend.

“I thought we were the dominant and superior steam from start to finish,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. “They had one spell where they had a lot of free kicks and corner kicks. But other than that, we created more than enough opportunities to earn the three points. We know we have to be more clinical in front of goal.”

Despite an uneventful first half, San Antonio created 15 shots and along with 14 chances on the evening.

Santiago Patino and PC both had chances to go too high over the net and others went just wide of the net.

“I think we just have to keep doing our best to execute,” SAFC Goalkeeper Matt Cardone said. “We know we are going to generate a ton of chances, so we just have to get that final piece and put the ball in the back of the net.”
