The San Antonio Scorpions just got stronger on defense with another edition, this time adding an MLS Superdraft first round pick to the mix.

Sporting Kansas City and Scorpions have agreed on a loan that will send fullback Saad Abdul-Salaam to the Alamo city, the team announced late Wednesday afternoon.

Abdul-Salaam played at the University of Akron for three seasons, where he posted three goals and 12 assists in 54 games. Kansas City selected the 185 pounder 12th overall in the first round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He appeared in three preseason matches for the club.

The Scorpions will return to the pitch next Saturday when they open the 2015 NASL Spring Season against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Field.
