Restrepo, Ibeagha, and Forbes earn USL All-League honors

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Wednesday that goalkeeper Diego Restrepo and defender Sebastien Ibeagha were named to the USL All-League First Team. Additionally, the club also announced midfielder Billy Forbes was named to the All-League Second Team by the league.

Restrepo finished the 2017 USL season with 12 clean sheets, the most of any goalkeeper in the USL. The 29-year-old ended the campaign with 69 saves, posting a 76.7 save success rate and finished with a 0.80 goals against average.

Ibeagha led the league in clearances with 190 and is a candidate for USL Defender of the Year. The 25-year-old was one of the anchors behind the SAFC’s backline, the league’s best defense. In the USL Cup Playoffs, Ibeagha had 15 clearances, two blocks and one interception.

Forbes posted 10 goals and nine assists in the 2017 regular season for SAFC, being the club’s all-time leading scorer. He also earned USL Player of the Month honors back in April.

“Congrats to Diego, Sebastien and Billy on being named to the USL All-League Teams, said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell in a team press release. “They’ve all had very good seasons. The team success was a catalyst for their individual success and I’m sure they’re very appreciative of all their teammates’ collective efforts for this recognition. As a club, we’re pleased to have the first three SAFC players to receive this honor.”
