Report: Darren Powell to be named head coach of USL San Antonio

Darren Powell is reportedly set to become the first ever head coach of USL San Antonio, according to Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel.

Powell comes to the Alamo City after spending time with Orlando City SC. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons at Elon University, where he led the school to five championships.

Powell will be the fifth head coach in San Antonio’s soccer history. Tim Hankinson and Alen Marcina were both head coaches for the former club, the Scorpions. The old San Antonio Thunder had Don Batie and Alex Perolli as coaches back in the 70’s.
