Highlights:
The San Antonio Rampage know the points are crucial as the season goes on. After letting one get away last night, the Silver and Black were determined to not let that happen for a second consecutive evening.
The Rampage would rally for a 3-2 shootout victory over the Lake Erie Monsters in front of 13,145 fans inside Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.
After two scoreless periods, there would be two goals in the final 1:58 to send the game into overtime. Lake Erie took advantage of a San Antonio turnover as Oliver Bjorkstrand gave the Monsters the one goal lead. John Ramage added a short-handed tally to quickly make it a 2-0 game. San Antonio answered back with two goals in 37 seconds to force an extra period.
Mikko Rantanen sent a blast from the right side of the net to cut the deficit to one and Maxim Noreau scored just seconds later to knot the game at two goals apiece. Neither team would light the lamp in the extra period, despite the Rampage outshooting Lake Erie 4-1 in the frame as we went to the shootout.
In the seven round skills competition, Reto Berra stopped six of seven shooters and Noreau connected on the game-winner to give the Rampage the 3-2 win.
Berra stopped 39-of-40 shots in the victory as San Antonio finished 1-for-4 on the power play. Lake Erie was held scoreless on two power play chances.
The Rampage are now 23-23-8-0 (54 points, 0.500) on the season and will return to the ice on Tuesday night when they face the Bakersfield Condors at 9 p.m.
