SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage have signed forwards Alex Belzile and Thomas Frazee, and defenseman Gabriel Verpaelst to AHL contracts, the team announced on Tuesday morning.
Belzile returns to the Silver and Black for his third season, posting 11 goals and 11 assists in 70 games over his first two seasons in San Antonio. The 25-year-old spent part of the 2016-17 season with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL. While with Colorado, he posted 27 points and led the Eagles to their first ever Kelly Cup title.
In the postseason, he scored 14 goals and had 12 assists totaling 26 points in 18 games with Colorado.
Frazee, comes to San Antonio after splitting the 2016-17 season with the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators and the Rampage. The 27-year-old had 19 goals and 20 assists in 60 games with Atlanta. Frazee signed a Professional Tryout Contact (PTO) with San Antonio and appeared in six games.
Verpaelst, split his time between the Norfolk Admirals and Utah Grizzlies during the 2016-17 season, posting a combined seven goals and 12 assists in 71 games. The 23-year-old made his AHL debut with the Stockton Heat on Feb. 20, 2016.
The Rampage will open the 2017-18 season on Saturday, October 7 at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m. against the Ontario Reign.
