Rampage sign Brittain and Atkinson to AHL contracts


SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage have signed goaltender Sam Brittain and defenseman Josh Atkinson to AHL contracts for the 2017-18 season, the team announced on Monday afternoon.

Brittain returns to San Antonio after spending the 2016-17 season with he Springfield Thunderbirds and ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs. He posted a 905 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average in 10 games with Springfield and a .896 save percentage and 3.28 goals-against average in 36 games with Manchester.

The 25-year-old played in seven games during the 2014-15 season, posting four wins, a .943 save percentage and 1.76 goals-against average.

Atkinson, spent a majority of the 2016-17 season with the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators. He posted 10 goals and 40 assists in 66 games. The 24-year-old appeared in two games with the Chicago Wolves and signed a Professional Tryout Contract with the Rampage on April 10.

The Rampage will open the 2017-18 season on Saturday, October 7 at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m. against the Ontario Reign.
