SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage opened the preseason with a 2-0 loss to the Texas Stars at the AT&T Center on Friday night.
After two scoreless periods, the visiting team lit the lamp early on in the third period. Elgin Pearce got loose for a breakaway attempt and beat San Antonio goaltender Jordan Binnington at the 8:01 mark to put Texas up a goal.
The Stars added to their lead with a power play tally when Nicholas Caamano redirected a James Phelan shot past Binnington at 14:03 to finalize the scoring and give Texas the 2-0 victory.
San Antonio was undisciplined in their preseason opener, committing 10 minor penalties. Jordan Nolan sat in the penalty box for four minutes after being called for a double minor as the Rampage were down two men for a full two minutes.
Binnington made 23 saves on the night for the Rampage.
