The San Antonio Rampage are struggling offensively and injuries have not made it easier. Unfortunately, a return to home ice did not help matters as the Silver and Black were shut out yet again.
The Rampage fell 4-0 to the San Jose Barracuda in front of 8,084 kids at the AT&T Center on Tuesday morning for the annual Cool School Kids Day.
San Jose opened the scoring just 1:50 into the game as Timo Meier lit the lamp, beating San Antonio netminder Kent Simpson to put the visitors up a goal. Despite outshooting San Jose 13-11 in the first, the Rampage went into the second period down 1-0.
Marcus Sorensen extended the Barracuda lead to two goals with a pretty shot at 6:46. Both teams had seven shots on goal, but the Rampage could not get past San Jose goaltender Troy Grosenick.
San Jose added two more goals in the final period from Rourke Chartier and Sorensen scored his second of the day, sealing the 4-0 win for the Barracuda.
The Silver and Black outshot San Jose 27-26 and were 0-for-3 on the power play. Kent Simpson stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced in the loss.
It is the first time the Rampage were shutout in back to back games for the first time since October 2009.
Up next: The Rampage are now 6-9-0-0 (12 points) on the season and will return to the ice on Friday when they welcome the Charlotte Checkers to the AT&T Center at 7:30 p.m.
