The San Antonio Rampage have had recent success against the Oklahoma City Barons. However, it seems the frosty temperatures outside had an effect on the Silver and Black offense as they got shutout to end the weekend series.
Laurent Brossoit stopped all the shots he faced as the Oklahoma City Barons (34-15-3-3) earned a 4-0 shutout win over the Rampage (31-19-5-0) in front of 2,539 fans inside the Cox Convention Center on Saturday evening.
After a scoreless first period, Oklahoma City lit the lamp in the three times in the second. Connor Jones banged the puck home past San Antonio netminder Dan Ellis 6:10 into the middle frame. Jujhar Khaira gave the Barons a two-goal lead at 15:27 with a shot over Ellis’ shoulder and just 27 seconds later, Bogdan Yakimov put Oklahoma City up 3-0 going into the final period.
Andrew Miller added the final goal of the night to beat Ellis at 11:47 of the third period to seal the 4-0 win for the Barons.
Ellis made 31 saves on 35 Oklahoma City shots, while Brossoit stopped all of the 31 shots he faced in the win. The Barons were 0-for-4 on the power-play, while San Antonio did not convert on their lone attempt on the man advantage.
The Rampage will return to the ice next Wednesday when they make their final stop on the Rodeo Road Trip in Charlotte to face the Checkers at 6 p.m. inside Time Warner Cable Arena.
