AT&T Center – The San Antonio Rampage wanted another shot at the Tucson Roadrunners after their loss on Friday night. 24 hours later, it was easy to see why – the Silver and Black would dominate.

The Rampage dominated two of three periods as they earned a 4-2 win over the Roadrunners in front of 5,019 fans at the AT&T Center on Saturday night, splitting their weekend series.

“It made a big difference (to get some guys back),” Rampage coach Eric Veilleux said. “In our puck control, decisions. Everyone is playing ‘in their own chair’ and it makes a big difference.”

Tucson would get the lone goal of the opening frame before fans settled into their seats. Garret Ross beat Rampage netminder Jeremy Smith just 38 seconds into the opening frame to put the visitors up 1-0 after 20 minutes.

San Antonio responded in the third period with two goals in three consecutive minutes. A.J. Greer opened the scoring for the Silver and Black at 11:52 with a shot past Tucson netminder Marek Langhamer and J.T. Compher tipped home a shot moments later to put the Rampage up 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The Rampage continued to dominate in the third, taking a three goal lead. Jim O’Brien and Julian Nantel scored two minutes apart to make it 4-1. Tucson stopped the bleeding with a late shot to finalize the scoring.

“We were working on the power play and getting a lot of shots,” Compher said.

San Antonio outshot Tucson 34-23 for the game, including 18-6 in the second period.

Up next: The Rampage are now 12-13-1-0 on the season and will return to the ice on Wednesday when they open a back to back series with the Texas Stars.
