The San Antonio Rampage are closing their Rodeo Road Trip with a three-in-three this weekend. After a less than impressive performance on Friday, they would use a rally to grab a much needed win just 24 hours later.
The Rampage rallied to earn a 4-3 overtime victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 4,901 fans inside Rabobank Arena on Saturday night.
Rob Klinkhammer got Bakersfield on the scoreboard first when he slipped the puck past Reto Berra early in the first period. The Rampage answered back with a goal from Reid Petryk as he tipped in the biscuit to make it one goal apiece. Bakersfield added a power-play tally minutes later to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.
San Antonio scored the lone goal of the period when Joey Hishon faked out Condors goaltender Eetu Laurikainen to knot the score at 2-2 going into the final period.
Bakersfield took the lead back in the final frame when Philip McRae with just over three minutes remaining in regulation. The Rampage refused to quit and Mikko Rantanen tipped the puck into the net in the final seconds to force overtime.
In the extra period, Andrew Agozzino sealed the come from behind victory with a breakaway goal with 12.5 left in overtime as Rampage walked away with the 4-3 win.
Berra finished the night with 22 saves and suffered the loss.
The Rampage are now 24-25-8-0 on the season and will close out their Rodeo Road Trip tomorrow night against the Stockton Heat at 6 p.m. inside Stockton Arena.
