Rampage rally for stunning overtime win to sweep Iowa

AT&T Center – The San Antonio Rampage rallied for a 4-3 overtime victory over the Iowa Wild in front of 7,910 fans at the AT&T Center on Saturday evening.

Iowa lit the lamp first much like Friday when Colton Beck with a pretty shot that got past Reto Berra. Zack Mitchell extended the lead for the visitors midway through the period as the Silver and Black found themselves in a two-goal hole. The Rampage fought back with Garry Nunn’s fifth goal of the season to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Ben Street found the back of the net like he did in the shootout on Friday for his sixth goal of the season in the middle frame to make it 2-2 after the second period.

The Wild took back the lead with Beck’s second of the night in the third period by deflecting Guillaume Gelinas’ past Berra. San Antonio forced overtime with Mikko Rantanen’s team-leading 23rd goal of the season just before regulation ended with a similar type of play from Dean Chynoweth.

In the extra frame, the lone shot from the Rampage proved to be the difference as Nunn’s wraparound attempt sealed the 4-3 come from behind win.

The Rampage 32-34-8-0 (72 points, 0.487%) on the season and will return to the ice on Wednesday night when they take on the Texas Stars for the final time at 7:30 p.m. inside the Cedar Park Center.
